Fun in the Sun!

Florentine Gardens’ residents got to spend a lot of fun in the sun these past few months and are excited about the upcoming fall season. But first, we want to take a look back at all the amazing things we did over the summer.

Our first outing of the summer was a trip to the Cincinnati Zoo to see Fiona. She was sleeping when we saw her, and by the time we left, our staff was ready for a nap themselves! The trip to the movie theatre to see the new Elvis movie was quite the experience for our residents. It gave them a chance to look back and remember the times they spent as fans of “The King.” One of our residents shared a story of when she got to meet Elvis, and the one thing she remembered most was how kind of a person he was. Our third outing was to the Cincinnati Reds game at Great American Ballpark. They may have not won the game, but that didn’t stop our residents from enjoying the beautiful day at the ballpark.



When we weren’t doing facility outings, we were busy crafting, snacking on some fun goodies, having movie nights at the facility and enjoying our annual Camp Week. Camp Week is a fun time where we take an entire week and do all kinds of activities you would normally do at a campground. We made s’mores, shaker ice cream, and camp shirts. Our residents really enjoyed not only wearing their camp shirts but earning badges that they were able to iron onto them.



What camping adventure would be complete without being separated into camp teams and competing in games such as horseshoes, fishing tournaments and corn hole? We ended Camp Week by sitting around our flameless campfire swapping campfire stories, and reminiscing on times we’ve spent with our families camping in the past.

This summer, we’ve had the pleasure of connecting with our residents on a deeper level, learning more about their memories of growing up and making some new ones they will cherish forever. We look forward to creating more memories together this fall.
