Happy Hour Heroes

While the hours of happiness at Florentine Gardens are endless, there is a very special time of the week that is especially happy for our residents. This is thanks to some wonderful and dedicated heroes we have working for us. Crystal Elsten (Social Worker), Billie Tussie (Activity Director), Doris Johnson (Activity Aide) and Amanda Figgins (Medical Records) spend much of their Friday afternoons spreading happiness around the facility during our weekly Happy Hours. They often dress up in silly, handmade costumes in an effort to take the fun to another level.



It’s a priority for everyone at Florentine Gardens to make sure our residents have the things they enjoy. For some of our residents, that is to sit back and have their favorite alcoholic beverage. Our Happy Hour Heroes serve our residents anything from their favorite beer to a classic glass of wine, bringing back fond memories while making new ones within the facility. Seeing the smiles on our residents’ faces is enough reward for us to continue dressing up in goofy outfits.



When we asked Billie why she spends countless hours of her time making amazing outfits, she said, “because it makes our residents happy. I’d do anything to make them smile.” Countless hours go into planning and making these outfits in the hopes that they may brighten our resident’s days.

No, it’s not Halloween. No, they aren’t dressing up for a child’s birthday party. IT’S HAPPY HOUR AT FLORENTINE GARDENS!
